The Walking Dead- Is it really the best?
I want to go ahead and start off this blog by saying this is going to be heavily opinion based, and I apologize if you don’t agree with what I’m about to say… The Walking Dead is one of the best, and I mean the best zombie shows that will ever exist. I’m sure you are asking yourself, “Why is it the best?” Well reader let me fill you in. There are many reasons why I love this show so much and have so much respect for it. This is less of a review and more a persuasion to get people to watch this legendary show. What really caught my eye is the first episode as it should for many others. If you are not familiar with The Walking Dead then let me give you a quick rundown of how it started. Rick Grimes and his partner Shane are on patrol enjoying a meal in their police vehicle, when they get a radio call about a high speed chase heading there way. They both nod at each other then go to set up the spike traps to stop the vehicle. After the vehicle hits the spike trap a shootout begins. After dispatching the first two, Rick and Shane failed to notice that there was one more person in the vehicle. The last man in the vehicle climbed out and shot Rick in the arm, Rick is rushed to the hospital where he will be treated for the bullet wound. Waking up from a 4-5 week coma he soon finds out the zombie Apocalypse has begun.
What makes this universe so cool and so intriguing is that the creator of this show Robert Kirkman made it with the idea of there being no idea. What does that mean? Well it means the idea of zombies or the dead coming back never came to exist in The Walking Dead universe, and that’s one big thing that this show leads off of. It’s not one of those corny shows that they just know to go for the head and all the other bad writing that shows and movies do, but trial and failure is how they find weaknesses to the zombies. A key point I do want to make is that the virus is just like all basic zombie viruses, it is spread through bodily fluids and bites like many other zombie shows, but the way the characters in the show find loopholes in the virus is something that can be really interesting.
I want to sum up this by saying, I really think you should watch this show or at least give it a chance. It gets really interesting and will make you feel immersed in the world if you let it. There are always low points in show’s and like many others The Walking Dead has a few, but it doesn’t stop this from being one of the best zombie shows that is available. With an amazing cast, and such a compelling world, I believe that you should take a bite out of this show.
