Opinion: Growing Up- You’re 18 Now What?

What Can You Do At 18?

You have many advantages when it comes to turning 18 years old, and as an 18 year old myself, I’m excited to be able to experience these new things. Here are top 5 things I’m excited about and that I’m looking forward to doing.

  • Voting – the age for voting in the United States is 18 years old, and I’m not into politics that much, but once I do my research about each president then I’ll have a choice to who to vote for. I’m excited to vote because it’s important to our state on who becomes president, and every vote matters and many people don’t find voting exciting because many don’t, but once you do your research I feel like it’ll be a good experience for becoming 18 years old.
  • Tattoos – once you turn 18 years old, you’ll be able to get tattoos without parents permission. I’ve been very excited about getting a tattoo because I think they look so great on people and I’ve been wanting one for the longest time, and now I can get one without asking for permission. I think this will be my favorite part about turning 18 because you can get so creative with tattoos.
  • Skydiving – If you like taking risks and love high views, skydiving is a great experience once you turn 18. I know I’ll try it sometime in my life because I think it’s a great thing to do for trying new things.
  • Drivers License – you can get your driver’s license at 18 and start driving. This is another thing I’m excited about as well because I’ll be able to finally start going places by myself, but this is also a big responsibility, since you’ll have to take care of yourself on the road.
  • Fireworks – Many businesses sell fireworks to people, who are at least 18 years old, and this is a random fact I didn’t know, but I’ll probably end up buying fireworks for the 4th of July.
