Itasca ISD would like to introduce Kimberly Nicole Chaffin, also known as Coach Chaffin to the district. Born in Lubbock Texas, she graduated from The University of Texas Permian Basin in 2006, with a degree in History and a minor in Coaching. While in college she played basketball, and in HS she would play every sport her school would provide, along with band. She is currently teaching English III at our HS. Although she only teaches English III, Chaffin has taught all levels of English. She likes to describe herself as “passionate, goofy, and energetic.” Before she came to Itasca, she was previously in Gatesville Highschool teaching English and coaching basketball. Coach Chaffin has been teaching for 17 years. She finds delight in finding new ways to stay innovative in what she is doing, or “thinking outside the box”. A hobby she enjoys is coaching basketball. She like different pastas like spaghetti and enjoys a good Dr. pepper from time to time. Someone she has looked up to was her coach when she was in HS. She has come to Itasca because she felt it had many good things going for it and wanted to help it move towards that direction. Her favorite quote “If you don’t like something change it, and if you can’t change it, change your attitude.” Lastly, her advice for HS student is “Take things seriously, but not too serious. Try to set goals, and if you make it, then continue to create new ones, and if you don’t reach your goal, then it’s not the end of the world.
