Today I have interviewed Yannisa Diaz, a sophomore at Itasca HS, and she decided to share her “Unforgettable Moment.”
“My unforgettable moment was when my cousins and I crashed. I was out with my family, and they had dropped me off at home, but later at night, my cousins wanted to drive around, so they picked me up. It was around 10 when they were taking me home, but right when they were heading to drop me off, my cousin decided to try to do a little donut. So when she had turned the wheel to do the donut we had crashed into some big red poles. The crash had the car messed up. The windows were broken, the doors were broken, and the whole back came off. And the radio was still playing “Baby” by Justin Bieber, while everyone was crying. Except me. I was trying so hard not to laugh because it was funny for some reason. ‘Cus my cousin was crying and I was just looking at the car, and the car was just playing – baby, baby, baby, ohh. Then we walked home.”
Out of this entire experience the few things Yannisa had recalled the most were recording the crash, screaming at her cousin, and reaching out for her seatbelt having a feeling that something was going to occur. A few thoughts that fogged her mind through the experience were thinking she was going to fly out the window and hurt her head. A few seconds before the crash she had thought about her family, wondering what their reaction would be, and her little sister questioning who would be there for her. The advice she would like to give if anyone faces a similar experience is to stay calm, not overreact, and don’t get too scared or it could just make the situation worse.
