There are many thoughts on “brain rot” and whether or not it’s true. The brain has been a term that’s been going around for a while, and it doesn’t get old. The definition of brain rot is the supposed deterioration of a person’s mental or intellectual state, often attributed to excessive consumption of trivial or unchallenging online content. Social media like TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat have been getting more popular as days go by, with more people joining and posting, meaning more people are at risk of brain rot. Adults have been more on about this subject, rather than teenagers, some symptoms of brain rot would be not being able to concentrate, being easily disorientated, holding memories or retaining memories, low attention spans, physical health, mood switches, and many others. This all comes from being on our phones constantly with no break, looking at our screens all day. The simple way to get rid of or avoid brain rot is by decreasing screen time. A screen detox is needed by everyone to help them physically and mentally. On a more serious note, mental help is important, and social media can affect that, causing insecurities, mental problems, self-image, relationship lows, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, misinformation, self-harm, and multiple bad things. Brain rot is not the only problem coming from social media but the mental health of a person. Don’t risk your health for something so little as social media.
