About Us

The Paw Print Press is a daily updated publication from students at Itasca High School. Itasca High School is a 2A public school located in Itasca, Texas. It is part of the Itasca Independent School District located in north central Hill County. We currently have 630 total students district wide. Our goal and number one mission is to tell the stories within the Wampus Cat Nation and give information to our students, parents, community, and neighboring communities.

The Paw Print Press newspaper has been proudly serving the “Big, Little town” of Itasca since 1997. Yes, we are no longer producing a “physical paper”, but we are “getting with the times” and launching a new format, thepawprintpress.com,  to continue the legacy and tradition with just a click of a button rather than printing, folding, stamping, and mailing what was happening that week in Itasca.

With the teamwork of journalism advisor Kristin Mears and 20 aspiring journalists ranging from sophomores to seniors, the Paw Print Press staff is excited and ready to hit the ground running! Itasca’s new wave of #BetheChange is not only speaking true to our athletes, but to our academics and organizations, as well.

We are looking up and ahead. The future is promising for our program, and we would love to gain recognition, awards, and share in our accomplishments with Itasca High School and the Wampus Cat nation.
