Meet the Teacher, Alexis RaNay Whitlock, also known as Ms.Whitlock! She was born in Cleburne Texas, on December 17th. She started her college career in 2021 and graduated earlier this year with her bachelors in science child and family welfare, has earned her certificate in human services, and an associates in science of applied early child development during her time in college. She is a 3rd grade teacher here at Itasca Elementary!
What inspires Ms. Whitlock to teach is her genuine love for children and knowing that eventually the little minds she teaches will be the people making the decisions in the world that she grows old in. Ms.Whitlock described herself as a learner, patient, and creative. She has five children who she loves dearly. She herself grew up in Itasca and attended Itasca High School, she graduated in 2015.
Her advice to students is, “Control what you can control, meaning you and your emotions. Remember bad moments are only temporary it doesn’t make it a bad experience, life changes everything. The life lessons that you encounter are what make the journey worthwhile sculpting your character. Don’t dwell on the past, go back and change it, you can only make better choices.” However if she wasn’t teaching, she says she would definitely be working in the field of human services. Particulary as an early child intervention specialist working with children who have developmental delays, and helping them accomplish developmental milestones. Even though Ms.Whitlock has been in Itasca for a very long time Be sure to welcome her to the school, go cats!
