Hill County Day in Austin Set

After a one-session absence due to COVID, Hill County residents are invited to participate in a full day of activities at the capitol in Austin for Hill County Day.

For the first time since 1981, one of its own, Angelia Orr of Itasca represents Hill County in the House of Representatives. This year’s event will be Thursday, March 16, and will
include visiting with state leaders and attending opening sessions for both the House of Representatives and Senate. A catered barbecue meal will be served at noon in the Legislative Conference Center in the capitol’s underground extension. Senator Brian Birdwell and Representative Orr are expected to address the group during lunch. Speakers for the afternoon include representatives from Comptroller of Public Accounts, Secretary of State, Texas Farm Bureau and another state agency. The cost of the bus trip and lunch is $30 per person. For those taking their own vehicle, lunch will be $20.

Sponsors for the trip include Neal T. (Buddy) Jones and his firm, HillCo Partners-Platinum; Oncor, Citizens National Bank and Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce-Gold; HILCO-Silver; and Paulette and Eugene Fulton and Hubbard Chamber of Commerce-Bronze. The trip is hosted each legislative session by chambers of commerce from Hillsboro, Whitney, Itasca and Hubbard. Two buses have been reserved to carry 100 local residents on the trip.
