Maria Dominguez Gomez, 87, of Hillsboro, Texas, passed away Monday, January 8, 2024, in Waco. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 12, 2024, at Risen Church in Hillsboro with a burial to follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors,
Hillsboro, with a prayer service starting at 7:00 pm. Born in Austin, Texas, to Julian and Trinidad (Villareal) Dominguez on September 25, 1936, Maria spent the first years of her life in Austin before moving to Itasca and then finally settling in Hillsboro in 1997. She worked for Itasca ISD, Rainge Air and finally at the Itasca Nursing Home, where she worked in housekeeping until she retired. Maria enjoyed word search puzzles, crochet and Bingo with friends. Maria is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emmett Gomez; her sister, Jesusa Rodriguez; and her brothers, Santos Dominguez and Tom Dominguez. Survivors include her children, Lee R. Gonzales, Sr., Abram Gomez and Bennie Gonzalez; her grandchildren, Miguel Castellanos, Lee R. Gonzales, Jr., Isabella Gomez, and Jude Gomez; her brothers, Fred Dominguez and Joe Dominguez; and her sister, Julia Gonzales.
