Time is Ticking…

Time+is+Ticking...

With only five months left for seniors, the end is coming to a close. I just want to share my experience and some advice as a graduating senior of 2024.

My name is Tyler Griffith and like I have said, I am a senior at Itasca High and the graduating class of 2024. My life as a student here at Itasca has been a joy and a lot of fun to be in! I am super involved in UIL and a bunch of extracurriculars due to some of the most inspiring teachers in this school! I know that there have been some ups and downs with some of the years here but we as a class and a school have gotten through it together. But it is kind of sad that it is coming all to a stop. No more waking up early for band competitions, going to Austin for UIL Prose and Poetry, and no more going to Hamilton for UIL One Act Play. But being able to graduate is an exciting thing to think about! But for now, we can only worry about ordering caps and gowns and to start writing essays for scholarships.

But I am here to help give some information to help you succeed and to set up a starting point to get out into the real world. So linked down below are some things you should do before you graduate and also some things for the parents!

BEFORE GRADUATION:

https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa

Any student regardless of income should apply for Federal Student Aid. FASFA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is a Federal Aid to help pay for schooling. This includes grants, scholarships, work-study funds, and loans.

https://www.collegevine.com/

College Vine is also a school’s trusted website where you can see what university is best for you! You can Customise what school activities you are in and even what your GPA is to see the acceptance rate of the school!

PARENTS:

This blog talks about what can help your kid succeed and what to talk to them about after they graduate. After graduation life becomes different, so sit them down to talk about what is about to happen and what they are planning to do.

This blog talks about how to cope with your child leaving home to leave for college. We as kids know that us leaving can be SUPER hard on parents who raised you since you were in diapers! But change can be a good thing! And we are always here for you!

I know that graduating can be a sad thing but it can also be a huge accomplishment for them. When you spend around 13-14 years of your life dedicated to waking up at 6:30 am every morning and leaving at around 4 pm every day? Life changes. And it changes fast. So have fun during your last couple of months and help support one another.

Much love, Class of 2024 🙂
