Our school Itasca ISD has taken a moment to welcome Kristi Holley to the district. Born in Fort Worth, Texas and graduated from Baylor University in 1994 for education, she is now teaching English 1. Originally she had a desire to teach History. “Honestly I wanted to teach history growing up, but my mother told me to go into another subject because the coaches would always get the history jobs. So I picked English, and I’m glad that I did.” Holley’s hometown and high school is Maypearl, and Maypearl High school. Before she came to Itasca, she came from teaching at Italy. Although its her first time teaching at Itasca, she has been teaching for around 30 years and chose our district for its small school environment. What motivates her to continue teaching? “The looks on the kids faces when there having a good time.” If she wasn’t teaching she would stay at home and do nothing. She has described herself as compassionate, funny, and caring. A few extracurricular activities that she took place in were Editor of yearbook, FHA-Future Homemaker Of America, FCA -Future Christian Athletes, and track. Her family consists of her three kids, dog, and spouse Kyle Holley. A few hobbies she enjoys is reading, watching sunsets, hanging out with her kids, friends, and bubble baths. She also enjoys Dr. Pepper and Taco Bells bean burritos. One unique quality about herself is she has a 14 year age gape between her first and third child. One of her favorite books is “To Kill a Mockingbird”. Someone she looked up to as a child was her grandmother. “She was the most wonderful woman that I have ever known in my life.” As an adult she looks up to her mother-in-law who has the same characteristics as her grandmother. A quote she would like to give is “Somebody is always going to be smarter than you. But you will always be smarter than somebody else.” In last the advice she would give to high school kids is “Start saving money now.”
