Wampus Cats Take Big Win Over Meridian Hornets

Joseph Willman and Adan Garcia

Some would say the game went very well for our Itasca Wampus Cats, in which I would agree. Others have different thoughts, but that is why we’re here to prove them wrong!

All in all, our offense was dominating with a final score of 58 to 0. A total of 459 yards, 236 rushing, and 223 passing yards.

On our defensive side of the ball, we did a very good job holding them down on the line and even pushing them back. Meridian finished off the game scoring 0 points with 36 yards total, 28 rushing, and 8 passing with 1 completion out of 5 throws.

Kayd Lightsey had an amazing defensive game with 5 tackles, 5 assists, and 1 interception. Justin Ludwig also had an interception with 1 tackle and 3 assists. As I mentioned earlier our defensive game was on point, with a total of 43 negative yards for Meridian.

The cheerleaders and crowd at Patton Field were up on their feet, chanting and cheering the Wampus Cats to victory. The school spirit from the fans to the band to the cheerleaders to the players and coaches was contagious and exciting to be apart of!
