Itasca ISD welcomes Meghan Montes. Mrs. Montes is the elementary art teacher here at Itasca. Mrs. Meghan is from Waco, Texas. She considers Itasca her hometown because she grew up here, and graduated from Itasca High School in 2003. She attended Columbia College and graduated with a minor in Human Services in 2016. Mrs. Montes is married to Anthony Montes, and they have two children, Kylee and Ty. Mrs. Montes has been teaching for 2 years, when asked why she is inspired to teach she says, “Seeing the kids faces light up when they have art class!” She enjoys what she does for the kids very much. If she wasn’t teaching, Mrs. Montes would want to be in counseling, and this is something she still considers doing. Before becoming a teacher, Mrs. Montes worked at HILCO before going back to iTeach to get her teacher certificate. She decided to come back to work at Itasca High School because both her and her husband’s whole family live here in town. Mrs. Montes would describe herself as “determined, loyal, and kind.” Something unique about herself is that she can solve a Rubik’s cube in a minute and a half! Her greatest role model in life is her grandmother. Some advice she would give to high school students to help them along the way, “This time is over in the blink of an eye, so enjoy it. Don’t give up and don’t make your older self pay for your younger self’s decisions.” Her favorite quote is “Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.” -Psalm 23:4.
