Itasca School District would like to welcome Michael Curtis! Mr. Curtis is from Jackson, Mississippi. He attended high school in Jackson, and consider it his hometown. Mr. Curtis went to college at Texas A&M where he played college football, and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Arts and Science. Mr. Curtis is married to Claudia Curtis, and they have three daughters; Kayla, Shelby, and Izzy. They also share four family dogs. Mr. Curtis has been in education for 15 years. He decided to come to Itasca because he likes the small town community. He looks forward to “helping develop the next generation of leaders.” Here at Itasca, he helps serve our students as an ISS teacher. Mr. Curtis previously came from the Waxahachie School District where he worked with special needs children. He enjoys helping motivate students and building positive connections with his kids. Mr. Curtis would describe himself as “honest, loyal, and tall.” His greatest role model in life is his father. In his free time, Mr. Curtis enjoys gardening. If he weren’t teaching, he would like to be “sitting on the beach.” His favorite food is hamburgers, and his favorite drink is Coke. His advice to high school students would be, “Keep your head up, check off all your boxes, get your diploma, and strive to succeed in life.” His favorite quote is, “Be yourself because everyone else is already taken.”
