On April 17, the Middle School had a serious talk about suicide from a guest named Jaylyn. She talked about a lot of very important points that I would like to write about.
In 2021, it was reported that around 48,000 people passed away from suicide. It was also reported that people in high school said they seriously considered suicide in 2021. Ages 10 to 34 are most likely to commit the act of suicide. There are some signs that someone in your life may be considering this, such as mood changes, talking about wanting to die, and feeling like they are worthless. There are also ways you can prevent someone from killing themselves.
Some examples are trusting your instincts, always maintaining safety first, do not judge their situation, and seeking information and listening to the best you can. These are just a few ways you can prevent suicide. Thank you to Jaylyn for coming to Itasca to spread suicide awareness and prevention. Everything in this article was in her presentation and should be taken seriously. Thank you for your attention!
