Cross Country Team Regional Qualifiers Compete- Junior Tomas Advances to State
October 24, 2022, we had our Cross Country team regional qualifiers go out to Grand Prairie for their Regional Meet. The regional qualifying team runners that are competing today for boys are: Tomas Castillo, Jesus Castillo, Joe Gutierrez, Michael Flores, Joseph Gurrusquieta and Roy Perales. For the girls, we have Daniela Chavez, Evelyn Virrueta, Makala Rodriguez, Arekxy Quiros, Aleigha Rodriguez, and Kathy Virrueta. Two fellow seniors, Naomi Chavez and Natalia Savala, came along to support the cross country team. All their hard work and dedication today will be proven at this meet! We wish them all the best and good luck in today’s meet! We are looking forward to seeing the team hopefully qualifying for state!
Update: Tomas Castillo placed 3rd out of 150 runners! He will be heading to State, which is November 4th in Round Rock! His determination and dedication and self motivation has really helped him reach this goal! Despite the rain, the boys placed 6th as a team overall, and the girls worked hard, as well. Both teams represented Itasca greatly! We cannot be more proud of the cross country team and Tomas!
