On Saturday, October 25, the Itasca band competed at the area competition, placing 11th out of 18 bands. Their warm-up began at 12:40 p.m. to tune instruments and prepare for their 1:00 p.m. performance.
After performing, the band eagerly awaited the announcement of finals. However, a sudden storm rolled in, forcing everyone to rush to the buses for shelter. The rain continued for nearly two hours, and to make matters worse, one of the buses began leaking from the roof. Fortunately, Mr. Dowling, one of the band directors, used his handy skills to patch up two holes and stop the leak.
Due to the weather, finals were ultimately canceled, and the band didn’t head home until around 9:40 that night.
