Today, we are introducing Jolene Carrillo. Jolene was born in Whitney, Texas, and she works as a teacher’s translator/paraprofessional. Even though she doesn’t have any children of her own, she describes herself as “caring, selfless, and honest”. Ms. Jolene grew up in Hillsboro, Texas, where she also went to high school. One amazing thing about her is that she has beaten cancer three times! While she didn’t get involved in extracurricular activities back in school or college, what truly inspires her to teach is the joy of seeing kids hit their milestones. She loves sharing those special moments with them! Jolene’s advice for high schoolers: “stay in school and steer clear of peer pressure.” When she has free time, she enjoys a good nap. If she weren’t in the education field, she’d probably be working in a corporate office. Her biggest role model growing up was her mom, and she has a pet named Lola. With four years of teaching, Jolene chose Itasca because she’s passionate about working with children. Her favorite drink is Dr. Pepper, and her favorite movie and book is “Save the Last Dance.” One of her favorite quotes that keeps her motivated is, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
