Before you can start baking, you need to ensure you have all the ingredients for a soft and fluffy tres leches cake. For this recipe, you will need 1 ¾ cups of cake flour, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, ½ teaspoon of salt, ½ cup of unsalted butter at room temperature, 1 cup of sugar, 5 eggs, and 1 ½ teaspoons of vanilla, which are the ingredients for the cake. For the glaze, you need 12 ounces of evaporated milk or one can,14-ounces or 1 can of sweetened condensed milk, and then add 1 cup of half and half in a separate bowl. Then, for the toppings, you would need 2 cups of heavy cream, ¼ cup of powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla.
After you are sure you have all of the ingredients, preheat your oven to 350 degrees, grease a pan, then whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt and set it aside. Then you want to put butter in a bowl and mix it in a bowl on slow, then add sugar slowly. After adding sugar and butter, add eggs one at a time and mix to combine, then add vanilla and mix again. Finally, combine the flour mixture with the butter mixture, then put the batter in the pan.
Finally bake for 25-28 minutes or until your cake is light brown, or you could poke the top of the cake with a toothpick and if it comes off clean your good! Now that your cake is out, take a fork and jab holes into it, then pour your glaze over it and let it sit for 5 minutes so your cake can absorb it. You’re almost finished!
