Nikaya Aryanna West is a freshman in our Itasca band. She plays the snare and mallets. If given the opportunity, she would like to play the clarinet or the saxophone. When asked what the best part of marching is, she said she stands there and “the best part of marching is not marching”. The worst part of marching for her is ” Watching the other kids suffer from the heat”. She is involved in various activities, including UIL, One Act, Debate, and, of course, band. She has been in the Band for four years. Her favorite band story is from eighth grade, when they went to NRH2O when they started playing, then when they finished, they waited on the judge to judge them, and after waiting for the results, she said she would give them a one just because she wanted to, and that was the actual score she gave them.
