Hi, Wampus Cats! March 2–6, 2026, we celebrated Read Across America and Dr. Seuss Week at Itasca Elementary.
There were lots of fun activities, including themed dress-up days, a schoolwide coloring contest, and a special reading program led by the 5th grade. Dress-up days included red, white, and blue on Monday; hats and/or stripes on Tuesday; mismatched or backwards clothes and crazy socks on Wednesday; college or career outfits on Thursday; and animal print or camouflage on Friday.
All grade levels, including Pre-K and Kindergarten, participated in the coloring contest, with 5th graders serving as judges. Winners will be announced after Spring Break.
The Read Across America program gave 5th graders the chance to read Dr. Seuss books to students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade. Elementary students also received small prizes, including stickers, erasers, pencil toppers, bookmarks, and bracelets.
Dr. Seuss Week was a fun and memorable experience for everyone involved!
