Meet the teacher, Kathryn Stallings, also known as Miss Katie. She is a counselor at our Itasca Elementary. Miss Katie was born and grew up in Nacogdoches, TX.  She has attended Stephen F. Austin University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Music, Texas Christian University, earning a Master’s degree in Music, and Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where she earned a Master of Education in School Counseling. 3 words that describe Miss Katie: energetic, caring, and honest. While in HS, she participated in band, playing the French horn. Something unique about Miss Katie is that she used to be part of a roller derby league; her derby name was Diva Knievel. The students inspired her to become an elementary school counselor.

Her hobbies are baking, singing, reading, and playing the piano. If Miss Katie weren’t a counselor, she would open up her own bakery. Her role model in life is her dad.  She has 2 Australian Shepherds (Kalani & Loki). Katie had been teaching for 14 years as a teacher, and this is her 1st year as a school Counselor.  She used to teach at Maypearl ISD (LSK Elementary). She chose Itasca because she wanted to be part of the Itasca family and serve the amazing students, family, and staff of Itasca ISD. Her favorite drink is Coke Zero with lime or a Diet DR pepper. Her favorite movie is The Wizard of Oz. Miss Katie’s favorite quote is “Shoot for the moon., Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.”
